Angels Look to Even Series Against the Rangers: Predictions, Analysis, and Prop Bets

The Angels aim to even their 4-game set against the Rangers tonight following another heartbreaking loss. Last night, the Halos were tied up 1-1 with the Rangers through most of the game until they crumbled in the top of the 10th, allowing 3 runs and losing 4-1, spoiling another great Detmers start. Tonight, Ryan Johnson will get the ball against Texas’s Cody Bradford as the Angels try to snap their 3-game losing streak.

Can the Angels Get to Cody Bradford?
Cody Bradford is a difficult starter to evaluate since tonight will be only his second start since September 2024. The left-hander underwent internal-brace elbow surgery and returned just last week, where he made his first appearance of the year against the Giants. In this start, he looked great, tossing 4.1 scoreless innings and striking out 5. Additionally, Bradford looked great in his last start against the Halos on September 5, 2024, where he allowed just one run over 6 innings.
The most encouraging bat tonight is Zach Neto. Neto is a career 3-for-6 against Bradford and has mashed against Texas in his still young career, posting a .333/.407/.650 slashline with 8 homers. Mike Trout is obviously another name to watch as he has now homered 49 times against Texas after leaving the park last night.

Can Ryan Johnson Keep the Rangers in Check?
Ryan Johnson is young, but his numbers this year make this matchup concerning. Before his last start, Johnson held a 2-5 record with a 7.34 ERA and 1.54 WHIP over 41.2 innings. He improved these stats in his last start against Baltimore, where he allowed just one run and 3 hits over 4.2 innings; unfortunately, he walked 5 which kept him from working deeper into the game.

There are several intriguing hitters tonight for Texas. Corey Seager holds a .327/.418/.583 slash line against Anaheim and has left the park 17 times in 67 career games. Wyatt Langford has an .889 OPS and 4 homers in 20 career games. There isn’t much batter-versus-pitcher matchup history as Johnson is still just 23.
Prediction, Props, and Picks:
The Rangers feel like the safer team tonight; therefore, I would take the Rangers -1.5 at +113. While Bradford is still limited, he looked great in his first start back, and Johnson hasn’t shown enough command this year to make me trust him. I would also take the over on 9 total runs at -115. I would be surprised if these pitchers go deep into this game, and they both raise many question marks. I expect an offensive game from both sides.
As far as player props go, I would take Zach Neto 2+ hits/runs/RBIs at -123. Neto has the best matchup history against Bradford and has a great history against Texas. He should be the Halos bat to make noise tonight.
Bets I like:
- Rangers -1.5 (+113)
- Total Runs Over 9 (-115)
- Zach Neto 2+ hits/runs/RBIs (-123)
