The San Diego Padres have reportedly acquired right-handed reliever Josh Hader from the Milwaukee Brewers, per Jeff Passan of ESPN. The Brewers received reliever Taylor Rodgers, outfielder Esteury Ruiz, pitcher Dinelson Lamet and prospect pitcher Robert Gasser.

A former Houston Astros prospect, Hader has a 4.24 ERA this season following a 12.54 ERA in July with five home runs surrendered — more than his three previous months combined.

Hader fortifies the closer position for the Padres when he's at his best, but the Brewers also landed a respectable haul. Rodger most certainly fits into the backend options with Devin Williams for the Brewers' bullpen while the addition of Lamet offers a former starter and longer option down the line.

The Houston Astros were never linked to Hader, but with a top-three bullpen in the sport, no team can roster too many high-leverage arms.
