Watch: Alex Bregman Hits Statement Home Run Early Against Rangers in Game 5 of ALCS
The Houston Astros need a pivotal Game 5 win against the Texas Rangers in the American League Championship Series.
After trailing 0-2 in the series, the Astros stormed back and took two of three games from the Rangers in Arlington over the previous two days. Their offense came alive and has been the contributing factor in their turnaround.
They will try and take the series lead on Friday and that offense appears to be alive and well.
After the first two Houston batters were retired on two total pitches from Jordan Montgomery in the first inning of Game 5, third baseman Alex Bregman stepped up to the plate.
Bregman deposited a no-doubter into left-center field that travelled 416 feet off of a 92.9 mph sinker fastball.
The collapse of Texas has been historic. After scoring the most amount of runs in the AL during the regular season, their offense has all but disappeared this series, especially in the previous two games.
Historically, the team who wins Game 5 of a seven game series goes on to win the entire series.
In a pivotal matchup, Bregman came through early for his team and left his mark in one of the most important games of the 2023 MLB season.
