Watch: Álvarez Ties Game With Atlanta Braves With Late Clutch Hit
The Houston Astros' bats were kept silent through the first seven innings of Sunday's rubber match with the Atlanta Braves. Ace Max Fried kept the Astros off the board early with a strong 6.2 innings performance.
That allowed the Braves to take an early 2-0 lead over the reigning World Series champions.
But things changed in the top of the eighth with Braves relief pitcher Nick Anderson on the mound. The Astros were able to load the bases before Braves manager Brian Snitker came to the mound in a call to the bullpen.
A.J. Minter replaced Anderson and faced Yordan Álvarez as his first batter.
With bases loaded and the game seemingly on the line, Álvarez ripped a line drive into right field scoring two runs to tie the ballgame 2-2.
Who other than Álvarez in a moment like that?
Now Houston has the chance to go for the series win as they hope to get to the Braves bullpen even further.
