Astros Moving Forward With Incredible Entertainment Complex Near Stadium

The area around the Houston Astros' stadium is about to have a completely different look in the coming years.
They are ready to move forward with their plans to build a 60,000-square-foot entertainment complex by Minute Maid Park that includes a luxury hotel, bars and restaurants and an open viewing area to watch games.
"What we want is for fans to go to an area long before the ballgames, stay late after the games, have a lot of fans there watching during the games ... And on non [Astros] games days, it’s still a great entertainment district where people can go with bars and restaurants and live music," Giles Kibbe, Astros senior vice president and general counsel said according to Brian McTaggart of MLB.com.
Kibbe also said they envision the hotel being roughly 17 stories with 300 rooms that connects to their stadium via a skybridge.
The complex is set to be similar to those that the Texas Rangers, St. Louis Cardinals and Atlanta Braves have by their stadiums.
Kibbe hopes that Houston will begin the project following the 2024 season.
"We’re going to do it right. I do believe that once it’s done, people are going to want to be there for Rockets games in November, December, January, February, March and Texans games as well. … It will be the place to be," he said.
According to McTaggart, ownership of the Astros' will own the majority of this complex and that no public money will be used in creating this entertainment district.
They plan on the location being at the corner of Texas Avenue and Avenida De Las Americas, which is across from the main entrance to their stadium and spanning about a block.
