One of the old faces of the Houston Astros' organization has made his way back into the big leagues after spending a couple months in Triple-A baseball this summer.

Cy Young award winner Dallas Keuchel has been called up by the Minnesota Twins following the injury to starting pitcher Joe Ryan according to The Star Tribune's Twins beat writer Bobby Nightengale.

Ryan will be placed on the 15-day IL and allow Keuchel to play in the bigs for the first time since August 2022.

The Astros selected their former ace in the seventh round of the 2009 MLB draft. Three years later, he made his MLB debut against the Texas Rangers, throwing five innings and giving up one earned run. The next start of his career Keuchel threw a one run, complete game shutout in a 9-1 victory.

That was the start of a great career with Houston that was capped with him wining the Cy Young award in 2015 after posting a league high 20 wins with eight losses and a 2.48 ERA.

In his six seasons after his rookie year, he posted a sub 3.00 ERA three times. He was a two time All-Star, won the Gold Glove four times with the Astros and was a member of the 2017 World Series championship team.

It's been a struggle for the lefty since the past couple years. Now 35 years old, his previous two seasons saw him post a 5.28 ERA with the Chicago White Sox in 2021 and a 9.20 ERA across three different teams in 2022.

After signing a minor league contract with Minnesota in June, he's been called back up to the MLB.

There's been no announcement on what day his next start might come.
