Plenty of teams have spent the entire winter trying to pursue and catch the Houston Astros. The New York Mets signed former Astro Justin Verlander, among others, and their cross-town rivals the Yankees made similar moves.

Take into account the Philadelphia Phillies offseason and their strong additions and everyone is just playing catch-up.

Speaking on MLB Network's radio channel on SiriusXM, former MLB All-star pitcher Ricky Romero touched on the subject

"When you look at what Houston was able to do last season, and the fact that they really didn't lose many guys from that team, to me, it's special. They got their new GM Dana Brown... To me, Houston is still the team to beat. I don't care what moves the Yankees made, or any other team made. Everything runs through Houston."

Romero also went on to say that until the Astros are defeated, then they are still the top dogs, especially given their rotation.

It is a common sentiment in the industry. Houston has an elite roster that is compiled of one of the bets lineups in the baseball, and incredibly deep rotation, and perhaps the best bullpen in all of baseball.

Until proven otherwise, all roads run through Houston, Texas.
