Despite the Houston Astros' farm system constantly rated as one of, if not the worst, pipelines in all of Major League Baseball, they have been able to produce star players that come up through their minor league system.

After turning Alex Bregman, Carlos Correa, Jose Altuve and George Springer into stars, the Astros were able to develop Yordan Alvarez, Kyle Tucker, Framber Valdez and Jeremy Pena into stars as well.

They've been able to supplement their elite players with rising talents to continue keeping their dynasty rolling.

Houston's general manager, Dana Brown, went on the ASTROLINE podcast to share his thoughts on who the next upcoming star of the franchise might be.

When speaking with play-by-play guy, Todd Kalas, on the podcast, Brown said that their No. 1 prospect, Jacob Melton, has "a chance to be a stud."

"I think he's got a chance to be special. He was asked for in almost every trade talk. All teams are asking for him ... That's the one guy I was afraid to give away because this is a guy that you're gonna look up one day on TV and he's gonna be playing, hitting balls over the fence, he's gonna be stealing bases, he's gonna be making great catches," he said.

That's quite the praise.

Melton had an incredible second year of professional baseball, recording a slash line of .245/.334/.467 with 23 home runs, 41 extra-base hits, 55 RBI and 46 stolen bases across 99 total games. He worked his way up from High Single-A to Double-A where he finished his season.

The next step for this talented prospect in his development will be to reduce his strikeouts.

If that occurs, Melton could find himself in the MLB and becoming the Astros' next star, sooner rather than later.
