Houston Astros And Rockies Reportedly Set To Play In Mexico City In 2024
The Houston Astros and Colorado Rockies will play a regular season series in Mexico in 2024, according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal and the Houston Chronicle’s Chandler Rome.
The series is tentatively scheduled for Mexico City, according to the reports.
Rosenthal noted that the Astros’ José Urquidy and César Salazar are from Mexico. The Rockies’ Alan Trejo is of Mexican descent.
Anytime a team is chosen to participate in an event like this, it’s an honor. The Astros were well-represented at the World Baseball Classic and this will be another chance for the team to be in the spotlight.
According to Rome, this will be the Astros' first international trip since May 4-5 2019, when they played the Los Angeles Angels in a two-game series in Monterrey, Mexico.
The Astros have won two World Series since 2017 and they will be in the mix to repeat this season if they can avoid the injury bug. There’s a long season ahead and the Astros are loaded with talent in every area.
This much is known: the Astros will arrive in Mexico as a team worth watching in an international light.
