Report: Astros' McCullers to Begin Rehab Assignment After All-Star Break
Lance McCullers Jr. is scheduled for a rehab appearance with Double-A Corpus Christi on Friday, per Mark Berman of Fox 26 Houston. The Houston Astros starting pitcher will throw two innings in San Antonio to start a 30-day major league rehab assignment window.
The Hooks play in Texas against San Antonio and Amarillo to close out July while Triple-A Sugar Land is on the road for the rest of the month.
McCullers threw a second session of simulated innings Saturday at Minute Maid Park where he mixed in his whole arsenal and felt "extremely healthy." The righty was placed on the injured list to open the season with a right-forearm strain.
Game 4 of the 2022 American League Division Series was McCullers' last major league outing, but the righty now eyes a return to a rotation housing six starters.
