Houston Astros Receive Depressing Alvarez Injury Update
The Houston Astros have had an incredibly difficult time staying healthy this season. Blow after blow to player like Jose Altuve, Luis Garcia, Jose Urquidy and now Yordan Alvarez have just keeping coming.
The latter, who is dealing with an oblique injury, is especially missed as the offensive firepower of the Astros' lineup runs through him. Unfortunately, Alvarez suffered an injury that is relatively tough to deal with.
Speaking with SportsTalk 790, General Manager Dana Brown gave a less than encouraging update on Alvarez's potential return.
According to Brown, Alvarez won't begin baseball activities for about three weeks. Then there is the ramp up period and rehab assignments.
It's going to be a road back for Alvarez and it may take a while.
Luckily, other players have been picking up the slack as of late, especially first baseman Jose Abreu.
Everyone in the lineup will have to pull together in Alvarez's absence.
But it also ups the ante when it comes to moves at the MLB trade deadline.
