Houston Astros Star Calls His Hitting 'Terrible' Amidst Struggles

The Houston Astros have not looked like the same team that dominated the MLB Playoffs for so long and cruised to a victory in the ALDS round. One of their star is so frustrated that he's called his at-bats 'terrible.'

Heading into the off day on Tuesday, the Houston Astros find themselves in a dangerous situation.

They're trailing 2-0 in the ALCS against a red hot Texas Rangers opponent and now have to play the next three games on the road.

Despite the success that the Astros have had away from home this season, needing to win multiple games on the road to extend a series is never a situation teams want to be in.

Many of Houston's issues have come from self inflicted wounds.

They gave up five runs in the first two innings of Game 1 and 2. They have gone 1-9 with runners in scoring position, including an 0-6 performance on Monday.

One player who has been missing from action is star slugger Kyle Tucker.

He went 2-20 in his first 20 postseason at-bats and struck out in his 21st.

"They’re terrible,” the star said about his at-bats. “I feel fine, just my swing is not there. I haven’t done anything with any of the pitches. It’s been tough."

It's a strange stretch for Tucker who has evolved into one of the best pure hitters in the MLB.

During the final 93 games of the regular season he had a slash line of .295/.385/.577 and finished the year with 29 home runs and a career-high 112 RBI.

He's hoping that some tweaks will get things back on track for him going forward.

"I’ll take anything right now. I’m not really doing much right now and I have to keep grinding through and hopefully it will turn around. It’s probably my swing. Everything else has been OK. I just haven’t really put the barrel on the ball," Tucker said.

Manager Dusty Baker is confident that his star will get it figured out and come up big for the Astros when they need it.

"It’s frustrating when you’re not getting hits. And I’m sure he’s frustrated. We need Tuck. He’s a big part of our team. Big part of our offense. I just know that Tucker will come across and come through with it in Texas," he said.

Houston better hope so, because down 2-0 and hitting the road, if they don't figure things out soon they're playing on borrowed time.
