Houston Astros' Superstar Shares Thoughts About Being Considered a Dynasty
The Houston Astros will be chasing their franchise's third World Series title this season. That would make it three championships in eight years, an impressive feat putting them among some of the greatest teams of all time
But the question that people are asking is if the Astros are currently in the midst of a dynasty.
Honestly, it's hard to say they're not.
After making it to their seventh straight ALCS last year, they set the American League record and only trail the 1990s Atlanta Braves by one appearance to tie the MLB record.
That could certainly change this season.
Throughout this current run of seven years, Houston has won six of seven AL West division titles as well, another layer of dominance that puts them up there with some of the great teams in history.
It's easy for media and fans to speculate about who is, and who is not, a dynasty, but what do players think?
Astros superstar Kyle Tucker was asked precisely that by Ben Verlander on Flippin Bats.
"Probably," the reigning AL RBI leader answered.
He expanded on his thinking a bit by discussing how hard it truly is for players to appear in one Championship Series, let alone the historic streak that Houston has put together.
"But yeah, I mean, it's been extremely special. Like I said, people don't really have opportunities like this all the time. We've been very fortunate enough to have this for the past seven, eight years," Tucker added.
Of course, the pushback that some people might have is centered around the cheating scandal that marred this franchise.
However, it has to be pointed out that since the start of the 2019 season, when MLB's investigation revealed the sign stealing had stopped, the Astros have won four out of five division titles, made it to three World Series, and won one of them.
That's a tough resume to argue with.
Houston's superstar certainly agrees.
