Houston Astros Will Reportedly Name Espada Manager on Monday
The news everyone has been waiting and expecting will likely occur on Monday.
Bob Nightengale of USA Today reported on Sunday in his weekly column that the Houston Astros are expected to name Joe Espada their next manager.
Espada was always the first choice for general manager Dan Brown when it came to selecting Dusty Baker's replacement. It just made too much sense.
The long-time bench coach of the Astros, Espada knows the ownership, front office and most importantly, the players. Houston has become a dynasty and the next skipper to take the helm will have rough waters to navigate.
The Texas Rangers look like one of the most dangerous teams in MLB, especially after winning the World Series. They are expected to add more talent. The Seattle Mariners could pursue Shohei Ohtani.
Meanwhile, Houston may close their checkbook this winter.
When it comes to charting a path forward, Espada is the guy. He always was.
