Houston Astros Win Arbitration Case Against Tucker
The Houston Astros and Kyle Tucker couldn't see eye-to-eye earlier this offseason when it came to what Tucker would be paid for the 2023 MLB season.
Tucker's camp was seeking $7.5 million while the Astros filed $5 million. Since the discrepancy was not settled it had to go before an independent arbiter. According to the Associated Press, the Astros won the case and Tucker will make $5 million in 2023.
Tucker slashed .257/.330/.478 with 30 home runs last season while also winning a Gold Glove and an All-Star nod. Furthermore, Tucker was named to the second All-MLB team for his performance last season.
It's a blow to Tucker who was hoping to see his base salary increase season after season prior to hitting free agency. Tucker is now set to be the 14th highest paid right fielder in baseball.
