Reggie Jackson was a New York Yankees fixture. When he departed the team's front office two years ago, many were shocked. But he soon took up residence with the Houston Astros

According to a recent New York Post column, the reason Jackson left the Yankees was because he "[felt] like a hood ornament."

Jackson also details how he felt like he was on the outside looking and was left out of being able to help with any real decision making. He felt like he needed a change of scenery where his expertise and opinions on the sport would be valued.

On May 12, 2021 Jackson found a new home with the Astros just months after departing New York. Owner Jim Crane hired Jackson to help focus on community support initiatives.

Since then, he has been nothing but happy and feels valued by Crane and the Astros.

“I’m part of the mix,” he says. “I’m a part of the decision making process. I couldn’t have landed in a better spot."

Now, Jackson's voice is heard by one of the most supportive owners in the sport and he can continue to have an impact on the local Houston area as well as the game itself.
