Report: Houston Astros Activate Parker Mushinski
The Houston Astros activated left-hander Parker Mushinski on Thursday as Ryan Pressly headed to the paternity list.
Mushinski has been on the injured list since June 7 with left elbow discomfort. Prior to his injury, the 26-year-old tossed 6 1/3 innings and pitched to an ERA of 4.26 with the Astros in 2022.
During his rehab assignment in Triple-A with the Sugar Land Space Cowboys, the Arlington native struggled. He's posted an ERA above 15.00 in five games.
Mushinski will look to turn his luck around at the major league level, and pitch some meaningful relief innings while Pressly celebrates the birth of his second child.
They'll be some big shoes to fill, though, as the 33-year-old Pressly has been solid through 28 innings this season. He's pitched to a 2.89 ERA and 2.61 FIP with 32 strikeouts across 29 games. He's also collected 19 saves.
General manager James Click said Pressly will return to the roster Sunday in Seattle, per Mark Berman of Fox 26 Houston.
