Watch: Abreu’s First RBI as a Houston Astro
The Houston Astros moved to 2-1 on the season with a 6-4 win over the Chicago White Sox on Saturday afternoon at Minute Maid Park.
Yordan Alvarez was once again a beast, as the Astros’ left fielder is currently batting .455 through the first three games of 2023.
On Saturday, Alvarez went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI -- just another day at the office for the budding star.
Jeremy Peña has also started hot this season after a phenomenal spring training, with the young shortstop slashing .364 at the plate this year. He went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI in Saturday's win over the White Sox.
Right fielder Kyle Tucker also produced another solid outing, going 2-for-5 at the plate with two RBI -- including the go-ahead RBI single in the in the bottom of the seventh to give Houston a 4-3 lead. He is currently batting .300 this season.
First baseman Jose Abreu, who was acquired by Houston as a free agent in the offseason after spending the previous nine seasons with the White Sox, garnered his first RBI as a member of the Astros on Saturday to give Houston a 6-3 in the bottom of the 8th inning.
Abreu is currently batting .333 this season in Houston, going 2-for-5 with one RBI in Saturday's showdown against his former team.
The Astros return to Minute Maid Park to face the White Sox with a chance to clinch the four-game series on Sunday at 1 p.m. Central Time.
