Why Was Houston Astros and Twins Game Time Moved on Wednesday?
The Houston Astros will face the Minnesota Twins in Game Four of the American League Divisional Series on Wednesday in Minnesota.
The Astros currently lead the series 2-1 after a 9-1 walloping on Tuesday evening. Houston now has the chance to clinch the series on Wednesday and move on to the ALCS where they would face the Texas Rangers.
However, the game time for the Game Four start has now been pushed back to a 6:07 p.m. CT start time according to the teams.
While many theories have circulated, including the shadows present in Target Field at that time, the real reason is much simpler.
It's because the Rangers swept the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday and will no longer occupy the primetime spot on Wednesday.
This has allowed the Astros and the Twins to move into that slot where viewership and attendance numbers should be much higher.
Houston has tabbed Jose Urquidy to make the start and he will face Joe Ryan of Minnesota. Ryan has a compiled a 4.51 ERA over 161.2 innings pitched in 2023. It's a good matchup on paper for the Astros offense, but questions still linger as to why manager Dusty Baker chose Urquidy over standout rookie J.P. France to take the ball.
Either way, it'll be an intense showdown as the Astros try to make to the ALCS once again in what will be an old fashioned Texas showdown.
Buckle up, October baseball is about to get exciting.
