In this story:

Jeremy Peña was all smiles while Alex Bregman was less than pleased when their individual player rankings were revealed live for MLB The Show 23 on Wednesday, March 8.

The pair of Houston Astros teammates showed obvious signs of opposite feelings on Monday with the rankings, with Bregman‘s priceless reaction being caught live on Twitter.

His response to an 84 rating with a smirk on his face?

“That’s funny,” Bregman said.

Peña, meanwhile, got an overall rating of 83.

Watch the video below.

For the Astros as a whole, they are ranked No. 2 overall, No. 3 in contact, No. 4 in pitching, No. 5 in power and No. 19 in both speed and defense.

The top five overall initial Houston Astros player rankings for MLB The Show 23 include:

Designated hitter/left fielder Yordan Álvarez leads all Astros with an overall ranking of 94.

Right behind the All-Star slugger is another All-Star in second baseman Jose Altuve, who racked up an initial score of 93.

Right fielder Kyle Tucker, meanwhile, comes in at third on the team with an overall rating of 90.

Two pitchers round out Houston's top five player rankings, with starting pitcher Framber Valdez coming in with an 87 overall rating and relief pitcher Ryan Pressly netting a score of 85.

Followed shortly thereafter are the aforementioned Bregman and Pena.

Bregman, in my humble opinion, has every reason to be disappointed with his overall rating of 84.

It's ludicrous, and I wouldn't be surprised whatsoever if it changes between now and when the season actually begins.

Peña entering his sophomore season with an 83? Sure, that makes sense even if he's better than that.

But Bregman at 84 not only doesn't make since, it's a slap in the face -- to both the All-Star third baseman and the Astros as a whole.

Who knows; maybe the poor rating will light a fire under Bregman's and he'll produce hit his hotstreak in 2023.

Only time will tell...
