For the past few seasons, the Mets have had a number of former Oakland A's on their team, namely Mark Canha and one season of Chris Bassitt, while the San Francisco Giants have had a handful of former Mets players, like Michael Conforto and Wilmer Flores.

This winter the A's joined the chat in a big way, adding five former Giants in starters Alex Wood and Ross Stripling; relievers Scott Alexander and Trevor Gott, as well as the recent addition of third baseman J.D. Davis.

The fun part of the Davis and Gott additions is that both players have suited up for all three clubs. Sean Manaea, who started his big-league career with the A's and spent a couple of years with the Giants, is now a member of the Mets rotation.

Even with the departures of Bassitt and Canha, the Mets still have plenty of East Bay representation in Starling Marte, Joey Wendle, and Jake Diekman on the roster.

All three teams are hoping for the most out of the players they have on their roster, but the five guys the A's have landed all figure to be trade bait at some point this season. Meanwhile, the Giants and Mets figure to be in a battle for the NL Wild Card, potentially fighting over the third and final entry with the Philadephia Phillies and Arizona Diamondbacks looking like more complete teams on paper.

In addition to five former Giants on the roster (two of whom played for the Mets in the past), the A's have also brought in J.T. Ginn from the Bassitt trade in 2022, as well as relievers Vinny Nittoli and Dylan Hall this offseason.

Depending on how the guys on the A's perform this season, they may have the best shot at ending up on a World Series contending team when all is said and done this year.
