The Blue Jays hired the architect of the latest World Series champion.

Former Astros GM James Click has joined Toronto in a 'Vice President, Baseball Strategy' role, the team announced Monday. Click was at the helm of Houston for the last three seasons, but left the organization after reportedly rejecting a one-year contract extension offer ahead of the 2023 season.

"Click will join the Baseball Operations leadership team, working closely with General Manager Ross Atkins and department heads on strategic planning, decision making, and evaluation," a Blue Jays statement said. "He will work across both professional and amateur levels to identify best practices, develop plans, and implement strategies."

The Astros won two AL West titles, made three-straight ALCS, and earned a spot in back-to-back World Series with Click as GM from 2020 to 2022. Before joining the Astros, Click was a long-time member of the Rays organization, joining as an intern in 2005 and working his way into a VP role.
