Toronto's third home opener of the season may be the most exciting one yet.

Minutes after tickets for the Toronto Blue Jays' first Canadian homestand of 2021 went on sale to the general public Thursday, the game was sold out.

With a 15,000 fan capacity, including normal and socially distanced seating, demand was high for the return of Toronto baseball. Tickets to the teams' first 11 Toronto home games went on sale Thursday, with seats to weekend series against the Royals and Red Sox quickly filling up.

The Blue Jays face off against the Royals, Red Sox, and Indians in the first Canadian homestand of 2021, and tickets to remaining home games will go on sale in the near future. With Canadian government and COVID-19 restrictions changing in August, there is the potential for an increase from the 30% capacity limits currently in place at Rogers Centre.

While the fast ticket sales show fans are excited for a return to Toronto, Blue Jays players have shown equal enthusiasm.

"We're definitely looking forward to getting up to Toronto," starter Robbie Ray said after the team's final home game in Buffalo's Sahlen Field.

The Blue Jays played their last contest in Buffalo Wednesday night, a loss to the Red Sox. Toronto begins a seven-game road trip to New York and Boston on Friday before returning to Canada for their first true home game in over 650 days.
