Blue Jays Promote Nate Pearson, Adam Cimber to IL
Nate Pearson has earned his way back to the Blue Jays bullpen.
Toronto added Pearson to the 26-man roster on Monday, replacing Adam Cimber in the bullpen. Cimber was placed on the 15-day IL with a right rhomboid strain. Pearson's MLB promotion was first reported by The Athletic's Kaitlyn McGrath.
Pitching strictly out of the bullpen at Triple-A Buffalo, Pearson was a high-leverage weapon for the Bisons to start 2023. He's always had high-octane stuff, but the righty struggled to keep it in the zone and stay healthy. So far this season, he's doing both. The right-hander has pitched in eight games for Triple-A Buffalo, posting a 2.16 ERA and a 3.2 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
Pearson will add to Toronto's swing-and-miss at the back of the 'pen, as he's breached 100 MPH at times this season and struck out 45.7% of batters faced.
