Rays TV Analyst: 'Something Was Amiss' in Glasnow Start vs. Blue Jays

In a post-trash can banging era, Major League Baseball paranoia is at an all-time high.

The Tampa Bay Rays TV analyst, Brian Anderson, observed in Tyler Glasnow's most recent start the Toronto Blue Jays had an idea of what was coming. He didn't know if Glasnow was tipping pitches, reported Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times, or if Toronto was stealing signs, but "something was amiss."

"I think you’d have to ask the Blue Jays what was going on," Glasnow told the TB Times. "It was definitely a weird start for me. It was definitely strange. I think I had some decent swing-and-miss stuff. I think that the takes were different.”

Glasnow failed to complete the fifth inning last Friday in Dunedin, allowing two home runs, five Toronto runs, and striking out just two batters. In two starts this year against the Jays Glasnow has allowed five runs each time — the only two starts of his season with more than three earned runs.

“I don’t know if it was from Tyler’s end or from the Blue Jays,’ Anderson said. "But something was in play. It didn’t look right. It didn’t feel right."

Tampa Bay Manager Kevin Cash did not think Glasnow was tipping pitches, he told the Tampa Bay Times.

The Blue Jays do not play the Rays again until July, when they will host Tampa at Buffalo's Sahlen Field.
