Should Spencer Strider start in the All-Star game?
Spencer Strider has been one of the best pitchers in baseball and when you look at strikeout rate and wins, he's the best there is so far in 2023.
Should he start the All-Star game for the National League? It would be the best for baseball argues Braves Today's Lindsay Crosby. He appeared on Dukes and Bell on 92.9 The Game in Atlanta where he was asked this question. Of course, MLB passed a rule where you can't start in the All-Star Game if you pitched the day before. Would it be worth it for Braves Manager Brian Snitker to hold out Strider so he could start in the All-Star Game?
"That's what I like about Brian Snitker is he'll do whatever Spencer (Strider) wants to do," Crosby explained. "If Spencer Strider wants him to change the rotation so that he can pitch the All-Star game, Brian Snitker is the kind of manager that would do that because he respects his players. They respect him back and they love him. Now I do think if it was a perfect world, Spencer Strider is your starter in the National League. He leads the National League in wins with 10. He leads all of baseball in strikeouts and strikeout rate."
"And you cannot tell me that you do not want to see Spencer Strider get a chance to strike out Shohei Otani before Shohei Otani gets a chance to try to strike out Ronald Acuña. You could not script that better if you were Major League Baseball. So if Spencer Strider wants to start the All-Star game, I feel confident that Brian Snitker will adjust things so that he can, but either way. He's deserving of the honor because he is the best pitcher in the National League. He is one of the favorites for Cy Young for a reason."
