BREAKING: Michael Soroka, Vaughn Grissom will be placed on IL
According to reports, The Atlanta Braves will place pitcher Michael Soroka and infielder Vaughn Grissom on the IL.
The Braves pitcher left after three innings of action Tuesday night before being pulled. According the David O'Brien, Soroka suffered numbness in his fingers.
Braves manager Brian Snitker was asked if the finger numbness was a big deal. His response: “I think it’s probably a big deal.”
Soroka's battle back to the majors has been a long, up-and-down battle. This case of finger numbness is the latest hurdle in the young pitcher's career.
At the AAA level, Grissom tweaked his right hip and that will force him to the IL.
After an impressive first inning, Soroka left the ball up too many times and the Cardinals repeatedly made him pay, with an RBI double from Jordan Walker and two-run jacks from Tyler O'Neill and Nolan Gorman adding up to five earned runs allowed across the first three innings.
As Soroka left the field, he was seen being examined by the training staff. He was replaced by pitcher Collin McHugh.
