Braves Avoid Rain and Set Lineup for Tuesday's Night Matchup Against the Chicago White Sox

The Atlanta Braves get to back free agent signee Reynaldo López in his first game back in Chicago since being traded from the White Sox last season.

The Atlanta Braves are looking to continue the good vibes in 2024 as they look to secure their second straight series victory tonight against the Chicago White Sox, taking the series early and leaving open the possibility of a sweep on Wednesday.

Mother Nature has shined on the game, with the forecast for Chicago gradually clearing through the day where this game might be able to played without rain, although the forecast is still for temperatures in the low-40s.

Tonight's game in Guaranteed Rate Field is a trip home for Braves free agent signee Reynaldo López, who pitched for the White Sox from 2017 through 2023, when he was traded to the Los Angeles Angels at the trade deadline as LA made one final playoff push while pending free agent Shohei Ohtani was still with the club.

Only five current White Sox hitters have ever faced the righty, with only three collecting a hit - 2B Nicky Lopez has a .214 average in 14 career at-bats with one RBI, while LF Andrew Benintendi has a .222 average in nine at-bats and catcher Martin Maldonado has gone 3-10 off of López.

Starting for the White Sox is lefty Garrett Crochet. Converting to starting after a professional career entirely as a reliever, Crochet went six innings on Opening Day against the Detroit Tigers with only one run allowed on five hits, walking none and striking out eight. He's a relative unknown to the Braves roster, with only Adam Duvall (sac fly RBI) and Matt Olson (0-1) having ever faced the lefty.
