Takeaways: The Braves blew out the Colorado Rockies to open the series

The bats were hot for the Braves against the Rockies, leading to a blowout victory.

The Braves blew out the Colorado Rockies 14-4 behind a massive performance from MVP candidate Ronald Acuña Jr.

The Braves were able to pick up their 85th win of the season thanks to the offensive explosion.

What can we take away from this blowout win over the Rockies?

Ronald Acuña Jr. is really good at baseball

Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

Ronald Acuña Jr. was 4-5 in this game with two singles, a double, and a homer. He also walked, meaning Acuña Jr. reached base five times in this ball game. Acuña Jr. had five RBIs in this game and scored four runs, meaning he was a good portion of the offense. With Luis Arraez cooling down of late, it is starting to seem clear that Acuña Jr. will win the NL MVP award. It's a blessing to watch Acuña Jr. play baseball every day.

The best offense in baseball had 18 hits

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

The Braves had 18 hits in this game, and every starter collected a base knock except for Ozzie Albies, who just returned from injury. Six starters had a multi-hit game, which is just crazy. This looks like a stat line from MLB The Show. This Atlanta Braves offense is the best in the MLB and proved why in this blowout win over the Rockies.

Bryce Elder did enough

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

Bryce Elder didn't have his sharpest start but was able to go six innings, only allowing four runs. The way I look at this start is when you don't have your best stuff, remember you have the best offense in the league behind you and fill the zone up. Elder did just that and picked up his 11th win of the season. The bullpen also didn't allow a run, which led to this blowout victory. If you throw strikes, you will pick up wins behind this powerhouse offense.

What's next?

The Braves will look to win the series on Tuesday at 8:40 et behind the right arm of veteran Charlie Morton, who will face off with 26-year-old righty Peter Lambert.
