When in Rome: The Return of Kyle Wright

Kyle Wright makes his first start since May, allowing only one hit and striking out four over three innings

For the first time since May 3, Kyle Wright found himself on the bump for the Braves. Not the Atlanta Braves, but the Rome Braves. It was his first rehab start since being pulled from the game against the Marlins in May. He made a start against the Greensboro Grasshoppers and he looked like vintage Kyle Wright.

Wright's final line was three innings pitched with one hit, no runs, no walks, and four strikeouts on only 26 pitches. Keep in mind, that this is only against High-A competition, but it is a step in the right direction. Playoffs are looming on the horizon for the Braves as we get closer to October.

If you are going to win the World Series again, the pitching staff will need to be solid. You have got to win four out of seven against one of the best teams in the world. Who do the Braves have to throw out there? Max Fried, Spencer Strider, Charlie Morton, and Bryce Elder are the main four guys at the moment. Strider, Morton, and Elder all have over 10 wins this season. Fried just came back from an injury. All of those guys have experience in the playoffs except for Elder.

If Kyle Wright were to make it back by October, he could be a huge ace in the hole for the Braves starting rotation. Couple that with the possibility of getting Dylan Lee, Jesse Chavez, and Nick Anderson back at some point, and a position that the Braves have struggled with at times, could become a great strength.
