A Bears Dozen: Ozuna's 13-game hitting streak

Marcell Ozuna is currently on a 13-game hitting streak in August

Marcell Ozuna has had a roller coaster of a season. At the start of the year, there were people calling for Alex Anthopoulos to find any way possible to get rid of him whether it be by DFA or by trade. A lot of fans were willing to accept a bottle of Louisiana Hot Sauce in exchange for Ozuna.

During April/March, Ozuna had a .085 batting average with a .194 OBP. He had 18 strikeouts in 18 games. Things could not have gone any worse for him. In May he turned that around as he hit .297 with a .360 OBP. He hit nine homers and had 20 RBI in that month alone. So, there was hope for the return of the Ozuna of old.

He got even better in June with a .309 BA and a .394 OBP. He had five homers and 15 RBI that month as he became a valuable part of a Braves lineup that loves to hit the long ball. He was seeing the ball a lot better as he cut down his strikeout numbers from 22 to 17 and he had 11 walks to go along with that.

While his stock was riding as high as it has all season, the baseball gods dished out an act of revenge in July. Ozuna's average dipped down to a measly .209 and he had a season-high 26 strikeouts and only five walks.

In August, he did his best Vicki Sue Robinson impression as he 'Turned the beat around' again. After going 0-for in his first two games, he is now on a 13-game hitting streak. He is hitting 16-for-48 (.333), with 5 doubles, 2 HR, and 11 RBI over that 13-game stretch, moving up to the 5th spot in the order. The Braves offense is a lot more dangerous when Ozuna is hitting the way that he is right now. Let's hope he can keep it up.
