WATCH: Braves keep finding holes, jump out to an early lead in Cleveland
When struggling Guardians starter Cal Quantrill retired NL MVP frontrunner Ronald Acuña Jr. on a 101-mph lineout to start the game, he might've felt like luck was going to be on his side tonight. He probably doesn't feel that way now.
Four consecutive singles followed none hit harder than 84 mph, each one finding holes in the Cleveland defense. By the time Matt Olson muscled a 66-mph screamer through the right side of the infield, the Braves led 1-0. Sean Murphy made it a two-run lead with an 82-mph bleeder through the left side, with Quantrill probably wondering by this point if he'd angered a higher power.
He rallied to retire Marcell Ozuna on a grounder to first, but then Eddie Rosario cashed in the two runners on base with a double into the left-center gap. This one was legitimately smashed, coming off the bat at 104 mph. And just like that, Michael Soroka's staked to a four-run lead as the Braves try to shake off last night's extra-inning loss.
The game broadcast, with Voice of the Braves Brandon Gaudin, is available inside Braves Country on Bally Sports South and is available on MLB.TV outside of the broadcast area. The radio call, with Ben Ingram, is available locally on 680 AM/93.7 FM The Fan or outside the Atlanta market on the Atlanta Braves Radio Network or MLB.com.
