On a rainy night in New York, the Atlanta Braves tallied the scoreboard just in time as the game was ultimately called after five innings with the good guys on top 4-0.

We knew going in the weather in New York wasn't go to be ideal this weekend, but credit to the Mets for getting this one in.

It was a game that heavily favored the Braves with their ace Max Fried on the mound who has yet to give up a run since returning from injury and pitched five more scoreless innings on Friday night with seven strikeouts.

The lefty was in control pretty much the entire game allowing just three singles and walking one batter in 86 pitches through those five innings.

For a while, it looked like the Braves offense wasn't going to give him any help as they were scoreless against Mets' starter David Peterson through 4 innings and looked pretty bad doing it.

But it was the bottom of the lineup that got it going in the fifth inning.

Eddie Rosario, who got the start against a lefty, started the rally with a one-out single. and then Kevin Pillar snuck one down the third-base line for a double.

After a groundout by Michael Harris II failed to bring a run home, the MVP candidate Ronald Acuna Jr. came through with an RBI single.

And then Matt Olson hit a no-doubter to create some breathing room.

It was rainy the entire game but really started to come down after the fifth inning and only got worse after that as the entered a rain delay.

At 10:02 PM ET, they finally decided to call the game having completed enough innings for it to be considered an official contest.

The Braves take game one of this series, but the weather looks even worse for Saturday when Spencer Strider is scheduled to go for game two.
