Takeaways: The Braves drop the series opener 10-4 to the New York Mets
The Mets put up a ton of runs to take game one of the three-game set against the Braves.
Crooked numbers will kill you, and the Mets proved it in this ball game.
What can we take away from this 10-4 loss to the Mets?
Marcell Ozuna rakes
Marcell Ozuna hit two bombs in this game which had the Braves in this game early. These homers were his 25th and 26th of the season. Both homers left that bat over 108 mph and traveled more than 415 feet. Ozuna has one of the most powerful bats in the MLB. Ozuna will hit some clutch bombs for the Braves in the postseason sending fans into a frenzy.
TONS of homers
With Ozuna smacking his 25th (and 26th) homers of the season, he becomes the fifth Braves player with 25 or more homers. This is the first time in Braves franchise history this has happened. Ozuna joins Matt Olson, Austin Riley, Ozzie Albies, and Ronald Acuña Jr. as the Braves with 25 or more homers. The ability to hit the long ball is why the Braves are the most potent offense in baseball this season and will be for years to come, thanks to solid moves by the front office.
Too many crooked numbers
When it comes to winning baseball games, a big key is to limit the big innings. Braves pitching didn't do that in this ball game, as the Mets scored three or more runs in three innings. Even when you have an offense like the Braves do, it's hard to come back from this deficit. Crooked numbers in the postseason can't happen.
What's next?
Game two of this three-game set with the Mets will be at 7:20 et as Bryce Elder gets the ball against Tylor Megill. The Braves will look to even the series in this ball game.
