Braves Briefing: What the rain delay may mean for Atlanta

Last night's game vs the Detroit Tigers was postponed. They'll play two today.

Inclement weather really ruined what could have been a bounce-back game for the Atlanta Braves.

After blowing a lead in the ninth and tenth innings on Monday night, Atlanta was set to send Spencer Strider to the mound to get things back on track. That never happened due to what was originally a delay that turned into a postponement that will result in a doubleheader Wednesday.

The positioning of this road trip was already odd. As Lindsay Crosby discussed on the Braves Today Podcast, it was a little strange that Atlanta hosted a series against the Nationals and then quickly went on just a three-game road trip before returning home to Truist for a four-game series against the Colorado Rockies with no day off.

From the Atlanta perspective, one would hope that the doubleheader and the quick travel won't impact how the team feels during this stretch.

Rightfully so, the Atlanta Braves are generating all-star votes. Crosby shared a report on the site about how some of the stars are doing.

Braves outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr is the leading vote-getter in all of baseball, with 1,086,537 votes. The top six outfielders for the National League team include Mookie Betts of the Dodgers (676,491), Lourdes Gurriel Jr of the Diamondbacks (367,348), Juan Soto of the Padres (339,009), Corbin Carroll of the Diamondbacks (232,565), and Fernando Tatis Jr of the Padres (207,474).
Just outside of a roster spot in preliminary voting in 7th place is Braves centerfielder Michael Harris II, with 192,261, while DH Marcell Ozuna, listed as an outfielder on the ballot, is 11th at 163,104.
Leading all catchers is Sean Murphy, with 603,501 votes. The backup on the team, if preliminary fan voting holds, would be Will Smith of the Dodgers with 419,587 votes. Fellow catcher Travis d'Arnaud is listed on the ballot as a DH, and he is in third place at 221,543 votes, just behind starter JD Martinez of the Dodgers (412,373) and backup Bryce Harper of the Phillies (380,345).
Shortstop Orlando Arcia, in somewhat of an unexpected development, is leading the voting at his position with 406,509 votes, backed up by Francisco Lindor of the Mets (302,051). Former Braves SS Dansby Swanson is in 5th place, with 197,569 votes.
