Takeaways: The Braves lost 7-5 to the Phillies splitting the doubleheader
The Braves dropped game two of the doubleheader against the Philadelphia Phillies even though Matt Olson had a solid performance at the dish.
Atlanta was at an early deficit after the Phillies scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning.
What can we take away from this 7-5 loss to the Phillies?
Matt Olson hits bombs
Matt Olson hits his 49th and 50th homers in this ball game, which kept the Braves in this game. The Braves first baseman is the first player to 50 homers after his two-homer game. Olson had four RBI's in this ball game and was really the only reason Atlanta was in this ballgame. The veteran power hitter will hit a whole bunch of homers in the postseason for the Braves, which will bring fans to their feet as the team makes a World Series run.
Kyle Wright struggled
We haven't seen Kyle Wright since May, and his first game back did not go so well. Wright went three innings, giving up six hits while giving up six earned runs. He also walked two batters during his return to the bump. My initial reaction to this is don't overreact. It's not easy to step back on an MLB mound after a long absence and dominate. I expect Wright to figure things out and help this team once it's playoff time.
Money Mike rakes
Michael Harris II continues to absolutely smash baseball as he added to more hits to his season tally, including a long homer. Harris II is one of the best young players in the MLB, and it's time to buy stock on the Braves outfielder. I foresee Harris II having a massive impact for this Braves ball club when the postseason comes around here in the next few weeks.
What's next?
The Braves will take on the Phillies once again on September 12th at 6:40 pm est where Max Fried will get the ball against Zack Wheeler.
