WATCH: Ronald Acuña hits a three-run home run vs the St. Louis Cardinals
Ronald Acuña reached 300 career RBIs with style Monday night.
He was the third Atlanta Brave to get a home run off of St. Louis pitcher Jake Woodford in the first two innings of action. Austin Riley had a solo shot in the first. Ozzie Albies had a two-run homer. Acuña scored three with his deep shot to extend Atlanta's lead to 6-1.
Acuña singled to lead off the game.
The Atlanta Braves tweeted a highlight of the three-run home run with the caption, "Our favorite new rule is the one where we have to hit home runs every inning." Can't argue with that...
The Atlanta Braves won the first series of the season, winning two of three against the Washington Nationals. They look to take the second series of the 2023 season against the St. Louis Cardinals. Both series are away from Atlanta, Georgia - The Braves don't have a home game until this Thursday.
Cardinals pitcher Woodford entered the rotation to replace Adam Wainwright, on the IL after a groin injury suffered at the World Baseball Classic while representing Team USA. Woodford's only start last year, coming on August 23rd against the Cubs in game two of a doubleheader, was 5.1 innings of four hit, one run ball with one walk and one strikeout.
