Takeaways: Atlanta takes down Cleveland, wins ninth straight
The Atlanta Braves just keep winning baseball games.
The latest was the first game of the series against the Cleveland Guardians. The Braves won their ninth game in a row thanks to a 4-2 decision.
Here are some takeaways from the action.
Scary scene with Ronald Acuña
Every baseball or Braves fan alike gasped and waited in anticipation to see what would happen with Acuña after he stole his 40th base of the season and came up holding his shoulder.
He stayed in the game and was seen mouthing "I'm okay" multiple times. The game stoped for a few minutes before returning to action.
With that stolen base, he's the first player in history to hit more than 20+ homer runs, steal 40+ bases, and 50+ RBIs before the All-Star break.
Michael Harris keeps destroying the baseball
Another multi-home run performance from an Atlanta Brave during this red-hot summer that they keep having. Monday night, it was Harris that got the offense going thanks to a solo shot in the third inning to give Atlanta a lead.
He has come along from the ninth position in the lineup and continues to prove why he was the NL Rookie of the Year last season.
Bryce Elder continues to be excellent
Elder worked well with runners on base for most of the game. It wasn't until the seventh inning that the Guardian's offense would be able to drive in some scores.
The All-Star was pulled after giving up two runs in the action but showed poise in dealing from the mound with runners in scoring position until Cleveland finally chipped away at it.
Tonight, Elder pitched 6.2 innings, gave up seven hits, two runs, two walks, and a strike out. He also picked up the win to improve to 7-1 on the season.
