Takeaways: The Braves could do no wrong in their series opener against the Texas Rangers

The Braves blew out the first-place Texas Rangers behind a dominant performance from Charlie Morton.

The Braves played an all-around perfect game where not a single thing went wrong.

The pitching and offense was amazing in this ball game for the Braves leading to this 12-0 victory.

This is a great way to start the series after a rough go of it in Canada against the Blue Jays.

What can we take away from the Braves 12-0 win against the Texas Rangers?

The Braves made Rangers pitchers pay for mistakes

Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

Generally in MLB, hitters have to hit a good pitch, as professional pitchers don't often make mistakes. That was not the case in this ball game. Each hit that scored a run for the Braves in this game was on a mistake pitch from the Rangers pitching staff, aside from Ronald Acuña Jr's 454-foot homer. Sometimes pro hitters miss these mistake pitches but not in this game. Braves hitters jumped on these pitches and did damage. All the pitches that Braves hitters punished were elevated, or center cut. You can't make mistakes against this Braves offense, and the Ranger pitching staff did a bunch in the series opener.

Charlie Morton was dominant

Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

Charlie Morton did what Charlie Morton does. The righty went 6.2 innings of scoreless baseball striking out ten Ranger batters. Interestingly enough, all of the seven hits allowed by Morton were singles. This makes it easier to work out of jams if each hit is only a station-to-station movement. Morton's season high in strikeouts helped the Braves shut out the Rangers to pick up their 26th win of the season. Morton is playing All-Star caliber baseball eight starts into the season.

The Braves bounced back in a big way

John E. Sokolowski-USA TODAY Sports

It's no secret that the Braves played poorly during their three-game set with the Blue Jays in Toronto. An excellent way to bounce back from a rough four-game skid is to beat the first-place team in the AL West 12-0 on their home field. The Braves boat raced a really good ball club, so hopefully, that will spark a winning streak for the first-place Atlanta Braves. The Philadelphia Phillies are starting to heat up, so the Braves need to not go on long losing streaks. Winning this ball game ended the losing streak and got the Braves back on the right track.
