Takeaways: Atlanta Braves dominate Chicago White Sox 9-0

The Braves dominated game one of the series.

The Braves once again dominated a lower-tier opponent.

Atlanta defeated the Chicago White Sox 9-0 on Friday night, giving them their first win following the All-Star break.

Here are three takeaways from the game.

Matt Olson crushes a grand slam early

Once again, the Braves found offense in the first inning. After Chicago went down quietly in the top of the inning, Ronald Acuna Jr. walked, Albies was hit by a pitch, and Riley walked... leaving Olson ready for the four-run blast to give Atlanta yet another hot start.

The White Sox did themselves no favors by allowing the Braves to cash in on three consecutive plate appearances getting on board without a hit.

Morton makes light work of White Sox

Check this stat out:

Charlie Morton faced no more than three batters every inning until the top of the seventh - where he faced four batters.

Morton finished with four strikeouts, three hits, zero earned runs in seven innings.

Just a beautiful night of pitching.

Atlanta's offense extends past the first inning... but not past the wall

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

Although the Braves have been dominant all season long in the first moments of games, the ATL continues to show that their offense doesn't just disappear after the first couple of frames.

Atlanta scored four runs in in the seventh inning without hitting a single home run. Olson's grand slam in the first was the only home run of the ball game.
