Takeaways: Atlanta Braves thrash Miami Marlins 16-4 in game one
Another massive outing for the Braves.
In a night filled with home runs, 16 RBIs, and a boatload of fireworks, Atlanta capped off what has prove to be one of the most dominant months in baseball history with a 16-4 win over the Miami Marlins.
A historic June comes to a close
21 wins. 61 home runs. The Braves had a very special June and continue to prove they are the team to beat in the National League.
The Braves now finished June with 61 home runs and a team batting average of .303. They are now the only team in MLB history to win 20 games at least 55 homers, and kept a .300+ batting average in a month.
Heading into the All-Star break, things are looking pretty good for Atlanta.
Double the strikeouts, quadruple the runs
The Braves had ten total strikeouts from their three pitchers tonight (Soraka, Collin McHugh, Mike Tonkin) compared to the Marlins' five.
Only one Braves player went without a hit (Orlando Arcia), and four Braves finished with at least two hits.
Matt Olson continues to prove his worth
Olson had another massive night, going 4-5 with five RBI and two home runs. He currently leads the NL in home runs (28) and RBIs (67).
The loss of Freddie Freeman was big, but Olson has been elite in his absence.
