WATCH: Ozzie Albies laces a first-pitch homer into the Chop House
Ronald Acuña Jr. hit the ball hard leading off the game against St. Louis starter Miles Mikolas, but right-fielder Lars Nootbaar was able to run it down. Mikolas would not be so fortunate when he tried to get ahead of Ozzie Albies with a first-pitch fastball.
Ozzie turned on the 94mph heater and drilled it down the right-field line. It was headed for the Chop House, but the only question was would it stay fair? And indeed it did, for Albies' 29th homer and 91st RBI of the season. It's also his first tater since returning from the IL last week in Denver. It stakes Michael Soroka, freshly returned from AAA Gwinnett, to an early 1-0 lead and adds to the Braves' gaudy first-inning offensive numbers.
The TV broadcast is on Bally Sports South throughout Braves Country and MLB.tv nationally. The radio call is available in the Atlanta metro area on 680 The Fan, across the Southeast on the Atlanta Braves Radio Network, and nationally on MLB.tv.
