Braves Briefing: Atlanta's victory last night was their 11,000th win in franchise history

The Braves franchise, one of the oldest in professional baseball, have the fifth most wins in baseball history

Not only are the Atlanta Braves really good this season, with MLB's best record and currently on a streak of three consecutive shutouts, but they've historically been a good organization when it comes to the whole "winning baseball games" thing.

Last night's victory was Atlanta's 11,000th, only the 4th team in professional baseball history to pass the milestone.

The San Francisco Giants, who dropped last night's matchup 4-0, are the all-time winningest Major League team, with 11,445, followed by the Los Angeles Dodgers (11,305), Chicago Cubs (11,222), and the St. Louis Cardinals (11,183).

The New York Yankees have MLB's all-time best winning percentage, sitting at .570, but sit in 8th place with "only" 10,662 victories owing to the American League (1901) being founded 25 years behind the National League (1876).

We Wrote It

In the takeaways from last night's victory, we mentioned what Michael Harris II hitting 2nd does for Atlanta's offense as far as giving protection to Ronald Acuña Jr and Austin Riley:

The centerfielder, moved up to the #2 spot in the order with the injury to Ozzie Albies, rewarded manager Brian Snitker’s faith in him with a 4-5 night. Money Mike finished a home run short of the cycle, and collected the first three legs of the cycle in his first three at-bats across just first four innings. He notched a run and collected an RBI in the contest, directly contributing to two of Atlanta’s four runs in the victory.
The night brings Harris to a .291 average and a .799 OPS, and his ability to hit lefties (along with Matt Olson in the cleanup spot) prevents opponents from bringing in a lefty reliever to face Ronald Acuña Jr or Austin Riley.
