Braves Briefing: The city of Atlanta holds their breath about Sean Murphy's injury

The Braves catcher was lifted from the third inning of Saturday's game with a hamstring injury

We've talked just recently about how Atlanta continues to win numerous despite injuries, specifically pointing out the pitching and up the middle of the defense (Michael Harris II, Orlando Arcia, and Travis d'Arnaud).

Atlanta's hoping to not add catcher Sean Murphy to that list.

The Braves backstop (and leading vote getter among NL catchers) was lifted from Saturday's game in the third inning with a right hamstring issue, with the Braves later classifying it as "hamstring tightness". He's undergoing further evaluation and the team will update his status today - if it's minor, it's possible Monday's off day will allow him additional time for treatment before Atlanta heads to Philadelphia and then Cincinnati next week, but if he requires an IL stint, he'd be the 4th up-the-middle position player to miss time this season.

At least Atlanta's got a quality option in Travis d'Arnaud - it's a luxury to have two starting caliber catchers, and Murphy played almost every day when Travis spent a month on the IL with a concussion earlier this season.

Lance Dawe covered the Sunday action for Braves Today. Orlando Arcia continues to play like the best shortstop in baseball, making the case why he is the leading NL front-runner for the All-Star Game:

Arcia leads the Braves in batting average (.329) and went 3-4 against the Rockies on Saturday - nearly hitting for the cycle (single, double, home run).
On a day when the lineup was hot, Arcia showed out and was the only Brave to get three hits on the afternoon.
