Braves Sending Regulars Out for Spring Training Home Opener Versus Red Sox

The Atlanta Braves are looking to start the home schedule in North Port on the right foot

The Atlanta Braves, one day after a mostly backup-laden roster kicked off the Grapefruit League schedule against the Tampa Bay Rays in Port Charlotte, are back at home and sending the regulars out there.

Facing the Boston Red Sox, here's how the Braves will line up on Sunday afternoon in North Port:

RF Ronald Acuña Jr
2B Ozzie Albies
3B Austin Riley
1B Matt Olson
DH Marcell Ozuna
C Sean Murphy
SS Orlando Arcia
LF Jordan Luplow
CF Eli White

Owing to their usage in the road game yesterday, MLB regulars Michael Harris II and Jarred Kelenic are getting the day off, while Marcell Ozuna, who played first base on Saturday, moves back to his traditional designated hitter spot.

Bryce Elder, a 2023 All Star that's battling for the fifth spot in the rotation, takes the ball as the starter for the Braves. We do not, as of now, have word on who is expected to follow Elder in the pitching plan.

UPDATE: Per Justin Toscano of the AJC, Atlanta plans to use Aaron Bummer, Darius Vines, and Ken Giles against the Red Sox behind Elder.

Bryce Elder: In Fifth Rotation Spot Battle, "I'm Ready To Go"

The Red Sox, who are doing split squads today as they both travel to North Port and host the Twins at home, have mostly backups and minor leaguers in the lineup for the Braves half of the matchup.

CF Ceddanne Rafaela
RF Wilyer Abreu
3B Bobby Dalbec
1B Pablo Reyes
C Roberto Pérez
2B Jamie Westbrook
SS Romy Gonzalez
LF Corey Rosier
DH Connor Wong

SP Brayan Bello

Offseason trade acquisition Vaughn Grissom, who was the return to Boston when the Braves acquired Chris Sale for their rotation, won't be playing in spring training games until March 1st due a tweaked hamstring suffered in January.
