Bryce Elder Battles for Fifth Rotation Spot on the Road Against Orioles

The Atlanta Braves have two pitchers dueling for the final spot in the rotation on Opening Day.

The Atlanta Braves keep whittling down the roster and are getting pretty close to knowing who they'll take north when they break camp.

Well, except for the 5th starter. That's not close to being decided yet.

A day after Reynaldo López took on Pittsburgh, it's Bryce Elder's turn to make his case, but he has a much tougher opponent: The Baltimore Orioles, who have a prospect-laden roster that's 15-3 in Grapefruit League action.

Here's how the Braves will line up from Sarasota's Ed Smith Stadium for tonight's 6:05 PM ET first pitch:

CF Michael Harris II
2B Ozzie Albies
1B Matt Olson
C Travis d'Arnaud
LF Jarred Kelenic
SS Orlando Arcia
3B Luis Guillorme
DH Jordan Luplow
RF Eli White

Elder's 1-1 with a 7.04 ERA so far in spring, striking out ten and walking three in his 7.2 innings of work. Lefty reliever Dylan Lee, battling for one of the final bullpen slots, is one of the pitchers scheduled to follow up Elder in this one.

Here's how the Orioles are planning to line up at home:

DH Colton Cowser
RF Anthony Santander
1B Ryan O'Hearn
SS Jordan Westburg
LF Heston Kjerstad
C James McCann
2B Jackson Holliday
3B Kolten Wong
CF Ryan McKenna

Starting for the Orioles is lefty Cole Irvin, making his third appearance of spring. He's not allowed a run in his first five innings, striking out three and walking one.
