Lineup

Here's how Atlanta will line up behind Fried as they look to start the season with a victory:

A few interesting wrinkles we didn't see in spring training from the Braves lineup: 2B Ozzie Albies bats cleanup, and catcher Travis d'Arnaud gets the DH spot, batting eighth, over Marcell Ozuna.

Series History

The Atlanta Braves are 411-371 all-time against the Washington Nationals, dating back to their time in Montreal as the Expos. Atlanta went 14-5 versus the Nationals last year, dropping the opening series on April 11th-13th but then rattling off nine straight victories over the summer before dropping three of the final six in September.

Max Fried is 6-4 in his fourteen starts against Washington with a 4.55 ERA.

Nationals starter Patrick Corbin has a 6-10 record against the Braves in his career, including a 1-9 record as a National against Atlanta (Corbin previously played with the Arizona Diamondbacks). His last win versus the Braves came in July of 2019, as he's taken nine losses in his last ten outings against Atlanta. Since joining Washington, Corbin has a 6.49 ERA against the Braves in his twelve starts, averaging just under five innings, three and a half runs, and a home run allowed per outing.
