Lineup, how to watch the Atlanta Braves series opener versus the Cincinnati Reds

Atlanta sends Bryce Elder to the mound with the hopes of ending the three-game losing streak

The Atlanta Braves are on a losing streak - albeit a short one - as the Cincinnati Reds come into town for a three-game series to wrap up Atlanta's first homestand on the year.

Here's how the Braves will line up for the contest:

Brian Snitker heard us on the podcast when we said something has to change with the bottom of the order - Kevin Pillar enters, playing left field, while Eddie Rosario moves to DH and Eli White gets a chance to create havoc as a "second leadoff man" at the bottom of the order. Catcher Sean Murphy, who has been consistently barreling balls but having bad luck with his batting average on balls in play, moves up to cleanup.

Taking the ball for the Braves will be Bryce Elder. Over his eleven appearances with Atlanta at the major league level, he's never faced Cincinnati. He's coming off of a fantastic showing on the road in St. Louis last week, holding the Cardinals to two hits and no runs in his six innings of work, walking three and striking out six.

Facing off against Atlanta is Cincinnati's Graham Ashcraft. The 2019 6th rounder started 19 games for the Reds last year, going 5-6 with a 4.89 ERA in 105 innings. He's seen a smoother start to his 2023 campaign, with his start last Sunday (4/2) against the Pirates being seven innings of four hit, one run ball with one walk and six strikeouts. The only blemish was a Bryan Reynolds home run in the top of the 4th. He's never faced the Atlanta Braves so far in his young career.

Tonight's game in Truist Park is scheduled for a 7:20 ET first pitch. The game broadcast, with Voice of the Braves Brandon Gaudin, is available inside Braves Country on Bally Sports Southeast, and is available on MLB.TV outside of the broadcast area. The radio call, with Ben Ingram, is available locally on 680 AM/93.7 FM The Fan or outside the Atlanta market on the Atlanta Braves Radio Network or MLB.com.
