Lineup, how to watch the Atlanta Braves series opener versus the New York Mets

Atlanta heads into New York for a four-game set that may have plenty of weather disruptions

The Atlanta Braves, currently holding a two game lead over the New York Mets in the NL East, head into the unfriendly confines of Citi Field for a four game set that some fans have been referring to as New York's "Super Bowl".

The weather forecast may not cooperate, however, with rainfall expected almost every day of the weekend. Let's hope Atlanta can at least get the first few games in, as the rotation is stacked early, with Max Fried and Spencer Strider the first two pitchers in line for the series.

Lineup

Here's how Atlanta will line up for the series:

Tonight's another unique lineup for the Braves, with Michael Harris II's return to centerfield (batting 9th) pushing the emergent Sam Hilliard to the bench and Kevin Pillar in left field. Eddie Rosario takes over the DH spot, batting 7th.

Pitching Matchup

Starting for the Braves tonight is Max Fried. Atlanta's lefty ace has been nails ever since he returned from a strained hamstring suffered on Opening Day - on the season, he's 1-0 with a 0.60 ERA in his three starts. Against the Mets, he's had plenty of success: A 7-5 record with a 2.78 ERA in twenty-one career appearances, dating back to 2017.

Facing off against Atlanta is David Peterson. The lefty is 1-3 with a 7.36 ERA in five appearances on the season, and is only marginally better against Atlanta in his career: 4.50 ERA and 3-3 record in eight appearances. Austin Riley, specifically, has worn out Peterson, as the third baseman is 8-16 with only three strikeouts against the Mets veteran.
