Lineup, how to watch the Braves take on Philadelphia in Friday night's game two
Coming off of a so fresh and so clean victory over Philadelphia on OutKast Night, Atlanta looks to secure at least a series split in game two against Philly on Friday night. No iconic Atlanta hip-hop groups for this one, but Friday nights typically feature the iconic red jerseys as well as fireworks after the game, so expect another sold out and rowdy Truist Park.
Atlanta Braves Lineup for Friday, May 26th
Here's how the Braves will line up for the contest:
Atlanta's going with their conventional righty starter lineup for tonight, with Travis d'Arnaud (last night's hero) at catcher and batting fourth.
(Side note: I like that Atlanta has two catchers that are good enough offensively where you can just have the cleanup spot be the catcher's spot and rotate them interchangeably, letting everyone else stay where they are. Most teams have a backup catcher that is a veteran defensive specialist who always requires reshuffling the lineup so they can bat eighth or ninth.)
Atlanta Braves vs Philadelphia Phillies Pitching Matchup
Starting for Atlanta is Jared Shuster. On the season, he's 1-2 with a 5.49 ERA, but that's clouded by some early struggles. He's been much better of late, going five innings with three runs against Texas on May 16th and following that up with six innings of one hit, one run ball against the Mariners on May 21st to pick up his first win of the season. A big key for Shuster of late has been limiting the walks - after giving out nine free passes in his first two outings of the year (eight and two-thirds innings), he's walked only three in his last two starts (eleven innings).
Opposing Atlanta is familiar foe Taijuan Walker. After three seasons in New York, with the division rival Mets, he left in free agency for Philadelphia, singing a four-year, $72M deal. He's scuffled so far this season, with a 3-2 record and a 5.79 ERA in ten starts on the year. He's not had a lot of success against Atlanta in his career, with a 1-2 record and 5.14 ERA in seven starts. Several Braves have had success at the plate against him, with Michael Harris II (1-1), Austin Riley (3-7, 3 RBIs), and Eddie Rosario (1-4, 3 RBIs) all having homeruns off of Walker and several others putting up healthy statlines - Kevin Pillar is 4-7, Ronald Acuña Jr is 2-6, and Matt Olson is 1-7 with a RBI.
